1997 Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport Injection
1997 Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport Injection
The owner of a Guzzi 1100 sport injection is selling their bike, despite knowing they’ll regret it. The bike is a real head-turner and great fun to ride, but the owner is getting too old to handle the riding position.
Those familiar with Guzzi’s will know all about the 1100 sport, which is a genuinely quick bike with a top speed of 130mph. The owner cannot personally vouch for this, but the bike has a Will Creedon chip and pulls really hard. It is deceptively quick and handles well, having even surprised a few sports bikes.
The owner has taken the bike to work a couple of times in the summer, but it does not like to pootle around in traffic. The bike is one that needs to run wild, and it’ll thank you for it.
Having had the bike for a couple of years, it has been used mostly on dry days for fun rides. The owner has done all their own maintenance, including checking the valve clearances, changing the oil, filter, and spark plugs, and replacing both seals on the rear bevel drive, as one had a slight weep. While in there, they also changed the bearings. Dealing with Gusbits has been great, and all parts were obtained without any issues.
The owner has listed the bike as ‘Black,’ but it is the later black from Guzzi. Early sports were a true black, but this one being a later model is more of a bronze black. It looks black in low light, but in the sunshine, it’s an amazing deep and complex color. There might even be some green in there, but you have to see it to really know. The owner wanted a red one but fell in love with this one upon seeing it.
As far as the owner can tell, the bike is completely original, having the standard airbox and exhaust. Many 1100 sports have K&N filters fitted, which look nice, but airboxes work well. The bike has some history, but not much, one key, and all the paperwork is, of course, in the owner’s name at their address.
The tires are reasonable, and the MOT expires in April. If the owner gets the asking price, they will put 12 months MOT on it for the buyer. The bike will pass with no problem, as there were no advisories last time. Everything works as it should, even the low fuel light. The mileage is in kilometers, as all 1100 sport speedometers read in Kms.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for something different, that’s great fun to ride and an appreciating classic, then this Guzzi 1100 sport injection is for you. If not, don’t worry; it looks great in the owner’s garage. The owner has no issues keeping it a wee bit longer, even if it kills them to ride it. Thank you for looking. Photos were taken in September last year, and the bike has not changed since then.
